Bio

Ranging from blues to garage, this Calgary based four piece has a sound that is refreshingly original. These four individuals each bring experiences to the table which have shaped Bell Tower and jump started it into the industry. With a long list of material, and a powerful stage presence, Bell Tower is one of a kind.

"They play howling, Nuggets-era garage rock... The four members of the band display a dynamic with each other that looks like years in the making... While Englund howls like a Jonathan Richman bastard child and stabs wildly at his Gibson SG, Hudec plays shimmering lead runs that are not afraid to squeal with feedback (he also plays a mean slide guitar). Watson pounds away with remarkable skill, considering his lack of experience, while Ackerman fluidly fills in the holes with grooving basslines reminiscent of Noel Redding’s work with Hendrix. If it sounds like all this could become a noisy mess, it sometimes does, but it is always thrilling." - Sean-Paul Boynton, BeatRoute Magazine May 2009.

"Bell Tower is one of the Marquee Room's favorite bands - short, sharp and snotty rock and roll you can shake to.." - Marquee Room Show Listing February 2010.

"You know you’re in the right band when each member brings a completely different flavour to the sound, and when it’s all put together, it sounds like something completely new. Such is the case with young garage-rock four-piece Bell Tower. Catching the ears of rock ’n’ roll enthusiasts at a Mount Royal University battle of the bands last year, the band has been swaggering around town with its playful blend of old-school punk rock and new-school indie pop." - Matt Learoyd, Fast Forward Weekly June 2010.
